Visible Signs of Coming Georgia Ave./Pleasant Plains Heritage Trail

Map showing location of the 19 heritage trail signs

After years of preparation, there are finally noticeable signs of the coming Georgia Avenue/Pleasant Plains Heritage trail. I noticed over the weekend while walking along Hobart Street  and the corner of Sherman & Columbia Road that concrete anchors have been installed that the signs will attach to. As an aside, be careful if you are walking along the trail route … I tripped over the extending screws before I realized they were there at one location.

All the signs will be installed in September so expect to see them in the next two weeks. The formal trail launch will be October 15th on the front lawn of Howard University Hospital. You can read an introduction to the trail and see an outline for what will be covered by each sign here.

How timely! My parents are coming to visit in October and this will be a great activity. Just reading the brief synopsis describing the locations I see I have lots to learn about my neighborhood (been here 5.5 years now)
